AI-Enabled Clinical Tools

A major differentiator of Venue is its collection of AI-enabled clinical decision-support tools. GE HealthCare developed these tools using proprietary algorithms intended to reduce variability between users, automate selected calculations, and help clinicians perform efficient point-of-care assessments.

Caption Guidance™

Caption Guidance™ provides real-time guidance during cardiac ultrasound acquisition. The technology is designed to assist users in obtaining diagnostic-quality cardiac views, making point-of-care echocardiography more approachable for clinicians with varying levels of ultrasound experience.

Real-Time EF

Real-Time EF calculates left ventricular ejection fraction during live scanning in the apical four-chamber view. Automating this calculation can help clinicians rapidly assess cardiac function without requiring a lengthy manual measurement workflow.

Auto B-Lines

For lung ultrasound, Auto B-lines calculates an overall lung score in a single step. This provides clinicians with a standardized method for assessing and documenting B-lines during point-of-care examinations.

Auto Bladder Volume

Auto Bladder Volume automates bladder volume calculations, reducing the need for repetitive manual measurements and helping clinicians quickly obtain quantitative information at the bedside.

Lung & Pulmonary Ultrasound

Venue provides several specialized tools for bedside pulmonary assessment. Lung Sweep rapidly visualizes the lung and generates a dynamic, panoramic view of the entire lung region being scanned.

Combined with Auto B-lines, these tools support rapid evaluation and documentation of pulmonary findings in emergency and critical-care environments. Venue's portability allows these examinations to be performed directly at the bedside without transporting critically ill patients to another imaging department.

Cardiac Imaging

Venue provides point-of-care cardiac imaging capabilities for clinicians evaluating hemodynamically unstable or critically ill patients.

Cardiac tools include:

  • Caption Guidance™
  • Real-Time EF
  • Automated Functional Imaging (AFI)
  • Cardiac measurements
  • Color and spectral Doppler imaging
  • Compatible phased-array transducers
  • Live cardiac function assessment

These capabilities allow clinicians to incorporate focused cardiac ultrasound into emergency, intensive-care, and perioperative workflows.

eFAST & Emergency Assessment

Venue supports eFAST examinations for rapid evaluation of trauma patients. Its eFAST Diagram provides a structured visual format for documenting findings, including positive findings identified during the examination.

The system's combination of cardiac, abdominal, pulmonary, and vascular capabilities makes it particularly useful when clinicians need to rapidly assess multiple organ systems during an emergency.

Vascular Access & Image-Guided Procedures

Venue supports ultrasound-guided procedures including vascular access and peripheral nerve blocks. Compatible high-frequency linear transducers provide detailed visualization of superficial anatomy, while Venue's clinical software can assist with procedure-specific workflows.

The system is also compatible with Nerveblox™, which GE HealthCare highlights for ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve block applications.

A convenient button probe can allow clinicians to control selected system parameters directly from the transducer while scanning. This can enable procedures that otherwise require a second person to operate system controls to be performed by a single clinician.

Advanced Point-of-Care Imaging

Beyond routine bedside ultrasound, Venue supports more advanced imaging capabilities for applicable clinical applications and configurations.

Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) provides enhanced visualization using ultrasound contrast agents, while Automated Functional Imaging (AFI) expands the platform's cardiac assessment capabilities.

Venue also provides tools for gastric and renal assessment. The Renal Diagram simplifies documentation and follow-up for suspected hydronephrosis, while gastric measurements can support bedside evaluation of gastric contents.

Wired & Wireless Probe Connectivity

Venue provides substantial transducer flexibility with four wired probe ports plus wireless dual-probe connectivity. This allows departments to maintain multiple conventional transducers on the system while also taking advantage of compatible wireless probes.

GE HealthCare offers Venue-family probes for a range of adult and pediatric examinations. The system supports probe options suited to cardiac, abdominal, lung, vascular, superficial, procedural, and other point-of-care applications.

Mobility & Battery Operation

Despite its large display and advanced capabilities, Venue is designed specifically for bedside mobility. A small cart footprint, large maneuverable wheels, and flexible rotatable swivel arm help clinicians position the system in crowded emergency rooms, ICUs, and procedure areas.

The battery system provides up to four hours of active scan time, helping clinicians continue scanning when an AC power source is unavailable. A color-changing battery indicator provides a visible indication of remaining battery status.

19-Inch Articulating Touchscreen

Venue features a 19-inch touchscreen display designed to remain visible from across the room. The display is mounted on a locking articulating arm so clinicians can reposition it for different examinations and procedures.

The touchscreen interface is designed to remain responsive when used with gloves or screen covers, an important consideration for point-of-care environments where infection-control precautions are common.

Infection Control & Durability

Venue is specifically designed for clinical environments with heightened infection-control requirements. Smooth, seamless surfaces facilitate cleaning between patients, while integrated cable management helps keep probe cords organized and off the floor.

The 19-inch monitor and system are also designed to withstand the bumps, splashes, and routine handling associated with busy point-of-care environments.
