The ZOLL R Series® ALS Code-Ready® Defibrillator/Monitor is an advanced hospital resuscitation system designed to support Advanced Life Support (ALS) teams with comprehensive defibrillation, pacing, ECG monitoring, and real-time CPR assistance. Built around ZOLL's Code-Ready® technology, the R Series automatically evaluates critical components of the system to help ensure the defibrillator is ready when a cardiac emergency occurs. Combined with Real CPR Help®, See-Thru CPR®, OneStep™ electrodes, and Rectilinear Biphasic™ defibrillation, the R Series ALS provides clinicians with an integrated platform for delivering and evaluating high-quality resuscitation care.

Key Features

  • Code-Ready® automated testing evaluates more than 40 measures of system readiness, including defibrillator electronics, therapy cables, electrodes, and other critical functions.
  • Automatically verifies the condition and expiration date of compatible OneStep™ electrodes.
  • Real CPR Help® provides real-time audio and visual feedback on chest compression rate and depth.
  • CPR Dashboard™ displays compression depth, rate, release, and other CPR performance information.
  • See-Thru CPR® filters CPR artifact from the ECG signal, allowing clinicians to evaluate the underlying cardiac rhythm while compressions continue.
  • Rectilinear Biphasic™ waveform with selectable energy levels from 1 to 200 joules.
  • Supports synchronized cardioversion.
  • Optional non-invasive transcutaneous pacing supports demand and asynchronous pacing.
  • 6.5-inch high-contrast display provides ECG waveforms, physiological data, operating messages, and alerts.
  • Integrated strip-chart recorder provides immediate documentation and summary reporting.
  • Rechargeable SurePower™ lithium-ion battery supports mobile hospital use.
  • Compact design weighs approximately 13.6 lb (6.2 kg) with OneStep cable and SurePower battery.

Code-Ready® Technology

One of the defining features of the R Series ALS is its comprehensive approach to equipment readiness. Rather than simply confirming that the defibrillator can deliver a shock, the Code-Ready system checks more than 40 individual measures of readiness. These checks can include the defibrillator hardware, therapy delivery cable, appropriate electrodes, electrode condition and expiration, and other electronic functions.

Readiness testing occurs automatically while the unit is off and connected to AC power, when the defibrillator is powered on, and periodically during operation. The system can also produce printed or electronic logs that alert hospital personnel when a component or accessory may compromise readiness.

Real-Time CPR Support

The R Series ALS incorporates ZOLL's Real CPR Help® technology to provide rescuers with immediate feedback during resuscitation. Audio and visual prompts help clinicians determine whether compressions are being delivered at the appropriate rate and depth, allowing adjustments to be made during the code.

The CPR Dashboard™ further supports resuscitation teams by displaying CPR quality measures, including numeric compression rate and depth information and indicators related to compression release.

See-Thru CPR® Technology

Interruptions in chest compressions can negatively affect CPR quality. See-Thru CPR® technology filters compression artifact from the ECG waveform, helping clinicians determine whether an organized or potentially shockable underlying rhythm has developed without unnecessarily stopping compressions.

Defibrillation & Pacing

The R Series ALS uses ZOLL's Rectilinear Biphasic™ waveform and provides selectable energy settings of 1–10, 15, 20, 30, 50, 75, 100, 120, 150, and 200 joules. The system also supports synchronized cardioversion by synchronizing energy delivery with the patient's R-wave.

Optional transcutaneous pacing provides both demand and asynchronous non-invasive pacing for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. When used with compatible OneStep Pacing or OneStep Complete electrodes, pacing and ECG monitoring can be performed without separate ECG electrodes.

OneStep™ Electrode Technology

ZOLL's OneStep™ family of electrodes is designed to simplify therapy delivery during a resuscitation. With OneStep Complete electrodes, clinicians can monitor, defibrillate, or pace without requiring a separate three-lead ECG cable.

The R Series also offers dedicated pediatric capabilities. Compatible pediatric electrodes use a pediatric algorithm to help identify shockable rhythms and automatically reduce the initial energy setting to 50 joules, while still allowing clinicians to select other appropriate energy levels.

ECG Monitoring & Documentation

The R Series ALS provides comprehensive ECG monitoring through 3-lead or 5-lead ECG cables, paddles, or hands-free electrodes. Selectable leads include I, II, III, aVR, aVL, aVF, V, and additional selections when used with compatible OneStep electrodes.

An integrated annotating strip-chart recorder provides immediate documentation and summary reporting. Stored resuscitation data can also be transferred for review and archiving, supporting post-event analysis and quality-improvement programs.

Clinical Benefits

  • Helps ensure defibrillator readiness through comprehensive automated Code-Ready testing.

The ZOLL R Series is a Code-Ready monitor/defibrillator designed for in-hospital resuscitation. It combines ZOLL's rectilinear biphasic defibrillation waveform, Real CPR Help compression feedback, and See-Thru CPR artifact filtering so the team can assess the underlying rhythm without fully interrupting compressions. OneStep electrodes and cabling consolidate defibrillation, pacing, and CPR sensing into a single connection, and automated self-tests report device readiness before the code begins. The ZOLL R Series ALS Code-Ready Defibrillator family is configured to order across operating mode, monitoring content, and unit condition. Select the child configuration that matches the clinical program and budget. Clinical applications include crash cart and code cart deployment, emergency departments, critical care and step-down units, cardiac catheterization labs, procedural sedation areas, and intra-facility patient transport.
