The Ritter® 225 Barrier-Free® Examination Chair by Midmark is a powered exam chair designed to improve patient accessibility, provider ergonomics, and positioning efficiency in primary care and outpatient environments. Building on the Ritter 224 platform, the Ritter 225 adds a power-adjustable backrest in addition to powered height adjustment, allowing clinicians to reposition patients from an upright seated position to a reclined examination position without manually adjusting the back section. With an 18-inch low seat height, 500 lb patient weight capacity, Active Sensing Technology®, integrated stirrups, pelvic tilt, drawer heater, and electrical receptacles, the Ritter 225 provides a versatile powered solution for routine and specialty examinations.
The primary difference between the Ritter 225 and Ritter 224 is the addition of a powered backrest.
While both chairs provide powered height adjustment, the Ritter 225 gives clinicians powered control over both the base and back section. This allows the patient to transition between upright and reclined positions without requiring the caregiver to manually raise or lower the backrest.
For practices where patient position changes occur frequently throughout the day, the power back can improve workflow while reducing the physical effort associated with manual positioning.
The Ritter 225 lowers to an 18-inch uncompressed seat height and raises to approximately 37 inches, providing a broad powered height range for patient access and clinician positioning.
Lowering the chair can make transfers easier for many patients with limited mobility, while raising the chair after the patient is seated allows the provider to establish a more ergonomic working height.

Active Sensing Technology is standard on the Ritter 225.

The Ritter 225 includes pelvic tilt, providing additional positioning flexibility for lower-body and women's health examinations. Both current configurations—the 225-002 and 225-003—include pelvic tilt.
