The ZOLL AED Plus® Defibrillator is an automated external defibrillator designed to guide rescuers through both defibrillation and high-quality CPR during sudden cardiac arrest. Unlike AEDs that focus primarily on shock delivery, the AED Plus incorporates ZOLL’s Real CPR Help® technology to provide real-time feedback on chest compression rate and depth. Integrated audio prompts, visual icons, a compression-depth indicator, and an adaptive metronome guide rescuers step by step through the resuscitation process. With five-year adult electrode and battery life, automatic self-testing, pediatric capability, and rugged IP55 construction, the AED Plus is designed for dependable emergency preparedness in healthcare, workplace, public-access, and first-response environments.
The AED Plus is designed around the principle that effective sudden cardiac arrest response requires more than defibrillation alone. ZOLL's Real CPR Help® technology measures chest compression rate and depth through the sensor incorporated into CPR-D-padz and provides immediate feedback to the rescuer.
If compressions need improvement, the AED can provide a “Push Harder” prompt. When adequate compression depth is achieved, rescuers can receive a “Good Compressions” message. An adaptive metronome also helps guide compression rate, providing additional support for rescuers who may have limited experience performing CPR.
ZOLL's CPR-D-padz® feature a distinctive one-piece design intended to make electrode placement fast and straightforward during a cardiac emergency. The pull-strip design helps position the electrodes correctly while reducing the possibility of separate pads becoming stuck together or misplaced during application.
The electrodes also incorporate the CPR sensor required for Real CPR Help. CPR-D-padz are intended for adults and children 8 years and older or weighing more than 55 lb (25 kg) and have a five-year shelf life. An accessory kit with scissors, a disposable razor, face barrier/shield, antimicrobial wipe, and dry towel is included with the electrodes.
For pediatric patients, the AED Plus is compatible with optional Pedi-padz® II pediatric electrodes. These electrodes are intended for children under 8 years of age or weighing less than 55 lb (25 kg).
When Pedi-padz II are connected, the AED Plus recognizes the pediatric electrodes and adjusts its ECG analysis and therapy energy appropriately for a pediatric patient. This allows facilities to maintain a single AED platform for both adult and pediatric emergency response.
The AED Plus is designed to reduce routine maintenance and the ongoing cost of AED ownership. Its adult CPR-D-padz have a five-year shelf life, while its off-the-shelf Duracell 123 lithium batteries provide a five-year standby life once installed under specified conditions.
Using nonproprietary batteries can also simplify replacement compared with AEDs that require a specialized proprietary battery pack.
Automatic self-testing helps ensure the AED Plus remains ready for an emergency. Combined with long-life batteries and electrodes, this feature can reduce the amount of routine intervention required to maintain an AED program.
Organizations can also use ZOLL's PlusTrac™ AED management software to help manage electrode and battery expiration dates, responder certifications, and AED-program compliance requirements.
The AED Plus is engineered for use in environments ranging from healthcare facilities and workplaces to public spaces and first-response applications. Its enclosure carries an IP55 rating, providing a high level of resistance to dust and moisture. ZOLL also specifies testing for shock and demanding environmental conditions, supporting deployment where an AED may be exposed to rough handling or challenging conditions.
